oh hot damn, vivienne tam

i had the lovely task of visiting the vivienne tam boutique tonight to see the fall 09 collection.  a few stops down to grand street, and some blocks walked in the rain (eh, cobblestones=big huge puddles) led me past china town and little italy and right down to mercer street. once i got past the velvet rope (complete with bodyguard), and the heidi-esque sweetheart at the door who was checking in guests, ("madeline andrews for glamour" got me in), i found myself lost in a chic and trendy little boutique filled to the brim with socialites sipping on champagne.  i could see the general motion of the room leading straight back to the left where the bar was overflowing with bubbly and visitors picking up the bubbly :)  they swanked around, sipping their glasses and after gushing about each other's attire (shoes, skirts and otherwise) they'd glance over at the models standing statuesquely in the fall 09 collection.  poor things, they probably needed a cube of cheese right around that time of the night - lord knows all they had was a raisin and lettuce leaf today so they could look skeletal perfect in the dress they'd be displaying.  after making my way through the magnificent mob of socialites, i quickly snapped a few shots for my fashion editor and without even finding the time (or space) to take off my winter coat, i realized there was no need to get comfortable, i was in & out in just a few.  with no one to "catch up" with, and no glass to refill (or, FILL for that matter) i happily made my way through the crowd and back to the rainy cobblestones streets.  its definitely a treat to get out of the office, especially during fashion week.  just to find myself in the presence of these people is somethin else. ;o)   all in all, vivienne's collection was ta-DA darling, i hearted a couple of her dresses for sure!  not sure if im willing to go cheese-eater to fit it the way those models do, but definitely worth trying on in a size 2.
