its my footsie tootsie
the most important thing you possess, living in NYC, is your feet. they take you eeeeverywhere. in essence, they are your transportation so you can imagine the difficulties that come when your feet aren't working properly. a couple months into my internship, and i realized something was seriously wrong with my feet. what i had chalked up to tired, long days in heels ended up being far worse. within the span of 4 days, the pain went from annoying to constant and progressively painful. to the point that i couldn't even lay down in bed at night and sleep. problem? absolutely. "torn metatarsal tendon" was the verdict from the other intern who had been xrayed for the exact same symptoms i had. the cause being, after talking to a nurse, "overexerting my arch by wearing bad shoes/heels and walking too much." last friday i seriously contemplated crawling home, the 20 or so blocks felt like miles & miles. the pain is in a tendon in the arch of my foot so i literally can't walk on it - my temp solution was walking on the side of my foot as much as possible, but i soon realized it was impossible. bed rest all weekend, ace ankle brace, bengay every nite, 800mg motrins every 4, and last but not least: dr. scholls inserts and NO HEELS are the only things i can do to help my foot heal. hopefully soon, because sneakers in condé nast is hardly abiding by dress code laws for the 16th floor.
